Closing My Vent Devo Journaling

The latest devotional I wrote for Illustrated Faith is a hum-dinger. Y’all, I was concerned it would be a bit too much. Instead, I keep hearing from readers, “You wrote that for me.” Ok, you can think so, but I needed the message and the Lord graciously allowed me to share.

You can download the Closing My Vent devotional HERE.

Monday, on Periscope (click HERE to watch), I shared from this devotional, the elements of the kit, and journaled the page.

I picked stamp ink colors to match the devotional artwork by Valorie Wibbens. But this stamp pad from an Illustrated Faith kit from last year gave me some issues. And from what I heard from a friend on Periscope, I’m not the only one.

The ink didn’t dry. I gave it time, and I used a heat tool, but I could still rub off the ink from the page. (Incidentally, the mustard color was from Illustrated Faith’s Lists by Faith kit from last year, but didn’t have the same problem.)

After the scope … I’ve been wanting to try Tim Holtz’s Distress Micro Glaze and decided this would be the perfect opportunity. This product was originally designed to use over Distress Ink on mixed media pieces to lock the ink so it would not blend or move with additional layers of products.

I applied the glaze and had a baby wipe on hand to clean my fingertip after each smear. After buffing it with a paper towel according to the instructions, the ink no longer transferred to my finger. Woohoo!

The Distress Micro Glaze did intensify the color, but unless you knew I had applied the glaze, I doubt it would be noticeable.

Now, the question I expect you to ask, is how the back side of the page looks. This is with no filters. You can see that the mint color is darker in it’s ghosting, but there is no bleed through. What I do see the look of an oily spot where the mint ink is. It’s not greasy. It just appears that way.

In the future, I will use Distress Micro Glaze again, if the page needs it. But, the mint ink pad is leaving my craft supply. Not venting, just letting you know ;).
